Our Year long Field Trip...School

This is my favorite picture of the summer. That was a good day. A REALLY good day. In fact this summer was filled with a lot of REALLY good days and for that I am so grateful.  It was a summer of rest on so many levels and I will never forget it.
We are ready for school to start next week but I must admit that I am having serious mixed feelings about it. I know we have made the right decision about putting the kids in school this year, BUT unlike the annoying commercials, I don't think this is 'The most wonderful time of the year'.  I love my babies and love being here to watch them grow.
They are nervous/excited about school. I told them to think of it as an extended homeschooling field trip and adventure, or a covert undercover operation into the school world. that seemed to get Lara excited.... lol
Today I am calling the school to find out if they can meet the teachers before the year begins, and to introduce Peyton to the play yard.  I just need to stay focused on the positive to come. The good year ahead..right???

Im praying for you! The school year is definitely not my favorite time of year either, but if we embrace it, we will see our children grow in so many new ways. I hope they have a great school year!

School, no matter the form, is an adventure and you being excited and content with your decision will let the kids know it is okay...after all, kids take on the atmosphere we create-sadly some times!!

I am praying all will be well-good teachers, nice friends, calm mommy.....

looking forward to a great year...

I've always been troubled by that commericial, and the glee of so many parents to be rid of their children. It's disturbing.

But the beginning of school is exciting, and it will be a wonderful adventure for your children. It won't be all sunshine and roses, but overall your children will be fine.

Teachers are an excited, enthusiastic bunch this time of year (I know I am!). We look forward to a new batch of chicks to spend our days with, and have plans to do many wonderful things.

My prayers that school goes without a hitch are with you and your kids.

Just saw a book review on a site I regularly read that might interest you. I'm interested, too, even though I've never homeschooled, because it sounds like a good look at how Christian parents can successfully "public school" their kids, regardless of whether or not they're transitioning from homeschool or not.

You're a great mom, Alyson. Change is tough, especially when it feels so visceral. Homeschooling has been such an important part of who you are, but the mom in you is so much more than that and that's soemthing that won't change. You've got the right attitude. Go with their enthusiasm and try to make it an adventure for all of you.
