Now however that has been taken away from me by my 5 and 3 year olds.
I did the laundry yesterday and this is the single socks I found after ALL the laundry was clean. Huh?? how do I have THAT MANY missing????
I know the Happy Geek and her sister Mother of the crazies will appreciate this as we had a lengthy discussion about keeping track of socks.

I searched and searched the house for the matches. Some of them were in their respective drawers. The others? well they were on things like this....

Apparently elephants get cold too.
I wonder if I could attach strings to the socks and loop them through pants like you do mittens??

Hey, that's not a half bad idea!!! Just the other day, I was folding laundry and had the "Lonely Sock" drawer open (yes, I have a dresser drawer specifically for that!) and hubby laughed at me. "You have a drawer for this?!" (he didn't believe it either)
I then told him he should count how many lonely socks there really were and we were both surprised (he more than I, but I was still a bit amazed) to discover there's currently 32!!
I never bother hunting them down though. Singles always turn up somehow, in a month or two, and the drawer is just in constant rotation.
Ah, the lonely sock phenomenon. Would would happy housewife-dom be without it?
Too funny! I totally agree with what a 5 and 3 year old can do to your ability to keep some semblance of order. It's amazing how much a 3 year old can carry in her arms when she's playing, but can only carry one item at a time to put it away. Why is that?
I laugh at this because I did laundry the other day and lost one of the baby's socks and I thought "how can I lose a sock already"?! I searched and searched and finally later found it in a shirt of Jim's. Those tiny socks really wriggle their way into other things! So, my advice - check all of your shirts!

Funny you should post about this Alyson. I was just looking at the pile of partnerless socks on the shelf deemed for socks without a partner this morning because I added 2 more socks.
Oh, do I have many!! Too many. Sometimes we find socks on our walks because my girls like to throw their socks onto the ground.
Once I even found a sock outside after the snow melted!
Maybe you have some of ours lol!?
I love the elephant's sleeping bag! My kids LOVE to take off their socks and hide em. I've decided I am going to be one of those moms who dresses their kids in socks that don't even match.
Omigosh! I'm sorry I'm laughing! I know why they put socks on their toys - it's my fault!! (see the little hedgehog in the book we gave Erin)
