A Country Christmas in the Village

We went to A Country Christmas this weekend in Spencerville Ontario. It was a REALLY good time. I hesitate to take the kids to 'events' for fear of whining, crying, complaints of being too hot/cold, having to pee in public and spending too much money and being just exhausted and angry at the end. I'm just not one of those moms who enjoy carting my children everywhere. I just find it waaaaay too tiring.

BUT.... Today was different. The weather was perfect and the venue just as good. The tiny village of Spencerville did a GREAT job. Their goal is to do it up 1930's style. When Christmas was about farmer's markets, crafts, shows, wagon rides and home made goodies and presents. They were big on promoting the 100Mile diet and supporting LOCAL vendors.

The HIGHLIGHT for sure was the EMPORIUM at the Old Mill. The kids were escorted by elves into the shopping area where they got to pick out their own gifts for family members. All gifts were between 1-4$, they provided gift wrapping, and the parents got to sit and relax and drink coffee. It was so exciting for the kids to be able to do their own 'shopping' for mommy and daddy.

Here are some pictures from our day....

The Set up and decorations for the Kids Shopping Emporium was Fantastic. The next pic is the girls with their presents in a box waiting for the nice ladies to wrap them up. As you can see they were kinda excited.

Sounds like an awesome event! I love the idea of the kids being able to shop in their own little area with all sorts of inexpensive things to choose from for mom and dad! Someone was thinking!!

Looks like so much fun.
