Gowing with the EBB and FlOW

HOME MADE PLAYDOH

HOME MADE APPLE CINNAMON MUFFINS

A dining room/school room that is all decorated for the fall and back in order after a morning of Math, English and Crafts.

Creative turkey hands and feet neatly displayed on the wall and sized from oldest to youngest.

Perfect isn't it? Creative, loving and wonderful isn't it? The thoughts that come to mind are nurturing, loving, warm, giggles, fun and creativity.
Pictures are deceiving aren't they? Because MY reality did not include many warm fuzzy feelings this morning. In fact, MY REALITY this morning looked more like impatience, whining, chaos, noise, mess, pee, dishes, non sleeping babies ungrateful children, fighting, and poop.

MY Reality included asking my husband to finish helping Erin with her language before I yelled at her, getting frustrated that Peyton once again decided peeing on the living room carpet was a better idea than running to the toilet, and me saying some choice words when I spilled cream inside the fridge while the 20 flies I just 'killed' came back to life after playing dead just to taunt me. Really...I swear they just play dead.

But you would never know it by looking around the house now. The girls are playing nicely, Audrey is sleeping in the sling on me, Peyton is napping and the house is once again tidy. The playdoh and muffins are ready to be consumed and played with (no doubt Peyton will mix up which to do what with) , and I feel great now that I've had the chance to put my feet up and visit with the midwife (who just came for a home visit).

Ah the EBB and Flow of motherhood and homeschooling multiple children. Amazing how one minute I find myself questioning my position in life and the next minute embracing it.

The day and the life of a homeschooling mom!! Sounds like things are going well. Take those moments for yourself! You really need it and so does your family!

It's true! Sometimes I think I'm just about ready to lose my mind and my patience and then one of my crazy kids will make me smile or laugh. The joys of motherhood!

This is a beautiful post, Alyson. Not just the writing, but the honesty and soul-baring. I guess that's why it's best to live life moment-by-moment and remembering to savour the good ones!
