I NEED YOUR HELP

I want to paint my dining room. I have wanted to paint it since moving here almost two years ago but it just has not happened yet. My ONE project for this winter was to paint it.

It is now the middle of Feb. and I want to get it done before all the outdoor spring projects start.

But what colour do I do?

The dining room is between the kitchen and living room. We pass through it a 1000 times a day. We also do all our Homeschooling and projects here. The kitchen is blue and the living room is green.

I'm thinking a yellow? The walls don't look so bad in the pictures, but believe me....they lack lustre and are scraped and scratched. I need something 'happy'. Something Fresh. A colour that will go will the decor of all the holidays.

This is my Dining room from the Hallway. It is the same ugly colour as the ugly hallway

This is the view at the doorway.

This is what you see when you look left. See the kitchen?

This is what you see when you look Right. That is the living room. Apparently a bomb went off in there today.

This is the kitchen a little closer. That is the Blue.

This is the view from the kitchen. Hallway on the right, living room across.

This is the view from the living room. That is the green.
Opinions on colour please. bright, happy, clean, cheery.

I think a yellow would look great with the blue and green.

I think a yellow would be nice as well. You might consider a color that would tie all the colors together(i dont know what that would be). My dining room is a blue/green, and my kitchen is a yellow. Loved it for a while, but it just doesnt flow. But definitely keep the trim white.
some paint stores offer free decorating ideas on their websites where you can test out colors. Worth a try.

By the way, your house is beautiful.

The dresser looks really nice in the dining room.

Colour - good question - prob'ly something to tie kitchen and dr together - paint stores have lots of chips and they arrange them so that colours blend into one another and you can choose that way. . .

I just painted mine a light green AND Jannie liked it

I have to say that the blue and green are "cool" colors so you may want to stick with that and they flow would be better.

A yellow is consider a warm color.

Have you googled a color wheel? That will help you find something to compliment it.

I would go for something that matches the living room because the kitchen seems more closed off anyway.

I think yellow is a nice warm color...sounds like you are already sold on it yourself! (-: Our kitchen and our master bedroom are from the yellow family too....decatur buff HC 38 and slightly lighter 'yellow' wilmington tan HC 34 in our bedroom (with one accent wall of arroyo red {a deep burgundy}) from Benjamin Moore....we still love it and receive a lot of compliments on it. Our living room is a similar green to yours as well....Happy Painting!

I'll answer for both me and MOTC, she says beige. Cause she's out there like that.
I really really love my brown. Belive it or not. I'ts like the colour of a latte and is warm and inviting and would tie the two colours nicely.
that being said, yellow rocks as well. We painted one of our basements yellow and LOVED it.

Lime green.
no...kidding.

My vote is either somewhere between a latte and the colour of chocolate, OR a deep grey with a hint of purple in it. The room is big enough to handle a dark colour- I say bring it.

How did HappyGeek know I was going to say beige? 3 guesses as to what color our house is here. We got wild and crazy and painted the basement Warm Vanilla though.

I think I would paint it a darker tone of tan-beige to tie in with the other two rooms and white trim-also a nice area rug under the table would look sharp with it.

I know you well and you are going to find beige and tan too depressing in the winter....

I am defintely voting for yellow.. benjamin moore i think has heritage/vintage colors and my first stop would be to look at those yellows....

yellow is great with blue and with green-cheery, but not annoyingly so... great with all decors.. great choice.. have I ever let you down before...

I am so biege and cream it's scary, but I painted our bedroom a great purpley greyish color that I lOVE.
How about a kinda greyish sagey vintage green color... Do you know the green I mean? Like that 1940's green. The green you see in antique stores, very warm, and comforting yet happy at the same time.

I love your house and I can't wait to see what you decide.
