Yep there it is.... the chickens are 16 weeks and 2 days. Lucky girls since they have 7 days before joining their friends at the meat market!
Notice how tiny it is. The first egg is always smaller. They will get bigger as the Hen lays more eggs. The extra Large eggs in the store?? those are old hens....poor things. anyway it is slightly brown. You can see it compared to the egg in my fridge.
Stay tuned. I took it away so hopefully I will get more.
Seven days girls to give me more eggs....seven days. There is no way I'm keeping them over the winter if I don't get eggs. They just eat too much since they are really meat chickens.:)

Very cool! Now will you eat this little egg? So tell me, is there a difference in taste, between a brown and a white shelled egg?
How fantastic!!! I was soo excited when we got our first egg..but couldn't believe how small it was! Now we get around 2 dozen a day! I am CONSTANTLY washing eggs! LOL (we have 23 chickens though)I hope you keep getting more eggs so those girls don't have to go to KFC...LOL!
Your chickens must have started reading your blog and got scared that they'd be turned into dinner. It's amazing what a little motivation will do - even for a chicken!
