Me...a farmer? what has happened to me?

We checked out some organic egg laying chickens. A lady is selling the four cutie pies and their little coop. They lay brown eggs and are well taken care of. All I need is organic feed and straw. I think I can handle that

Oh, and I just have to figure out what to do with them over the winter. We have three old chicken coops on our property and I think one of them will become a winter home.

Here are some pics of their current home

This is the food and water station

The blue house is where they will lay eggs.

hard to see but there is a little door to the hen house we can shut

You can see they will have plenty of space to run around on straw

OH..and the canopy is for rain cover and shade

My favorite is the little trap door to gather the fresh eggs. No more FACTORY FARM eggs for us!!
We have fresh milk, meat chickens, dairy cow (for our meat)

NOW TO GET THE ORGANIC BEEF HERD STARTED, and maybe a pig or two :)

Very cool! I would love to know how easy or hard it is to care for the chickens...

Oh I want chickens! How exciting that you have them. My sister raised chickens her kids were always outside feeding them and talking to them and playing with them. How fun!
