Big Farming Deal

This weekend we attended the INTERNATIONAL PLOWING MATCH. That's right folks. You can't call yourself country around these parts if you don't think it is a HUGE DEAL!! After all...It is INTERNATIONAL ;) You may laugh...but about 100 000 people attended this thing over the course of the week.
Check out the website here for more detail on the exciting event.

It is such a big deal that they send out a brochure and souvenir package to everyone in the county weeks in advance!!

See the Tented city? It is so big and well organized that we had to park far away. There it is off in the distance

How did you get there you ask? WELL...Hay wagons of course. They just load us up like cattle and take us there.

See? Everybody in you go!!!

There is something for everyone here. Crafts, big tractor toys and ALOT of stuff that I don't care to look at. We all managed to get something out of it though.
This is Adam drooling over a new John Deer. It has GPS....ooooooh Ahhhhhhh...let's move on.

Here is a pic of the hundreds of antique tractors on display....seriously can we just move on?? my feet hurt.

Lara enjoyed hopping onto the lawn tractors. We will make a farmer of her yet.

This was cool. Work horses showing us how they cut the corn back in the day. These horses were 18 hands high...that is HUGE !!

Again here are some work horses hawling the corn off to the next stage. I'm not sure what that is so don't ask.

Don't we make a cute turn of the century couple??

Of course I am fascinated with the quilters, the loomers and the Heritage building. I was going to add the pics but I'm boring even myself. They did have a display of how to take the wool from the sheep and make sweaters. That really was interesting...really....it was.

I think the kids thought this was the best part...the fries...not the wool display. I have to admit....the fries were really yummy.

And last but certainly not least...here is a pic of my hunky husband wearing our daughter Erin. You would not believe the looks he received from the farmers. It is a good thing he is comfortable with his manhood :)

So that is the run down.....I feel so much more like a country girl now that that experience is over with....now for my chickens

I love the pics of Adam and Erin - I've never seen a child Erin's age in a wrap like that and it kinda made me laugh b/c it kinda looks like an acceptable way to restrain a 2 y/o, lol.

Erin certainly looks very cozy snuggled up with Daddy! Is that a mai tai? Glad you had a great Saturday, grave mistake notwithstanding!
