I just love bedtime. Tucking my babies in at night is definitely my favorite time of the day.
It does not matter what kind of day we have had. When I tuck them in all is forgotten. They forgive me...I forgive them....and we all remember why we love each other so much.
O.K, so the fact they are all cleaned up and smelling so yummy also helps.
We start our bedtime routine between 530 and 700pm depending on the day we have had. They get all ready for bed and then we read two stories they pick out.
After our quiet reading time we do what we call ''prayers and stories''.
We all say our prayers and then we each take the time to tell a story of our choice from our imaginations.
This is the best part. I started it three years ago when Lara was 2. It is amazing to see the progression of thought in her little mind. Now I am just amazed at what comes out of their heads. It really is enjoyable.
I'm glad we take the time at night to spend quiet time with them. They are growing so fast and I don't want to miss it. Besides, if it is a bad day we have had together we get to change it around and everyone gets to sleep knowing how much they are loved.

That's a wonderful idea, the storytelling thing. I'm usually not organized enough to allow for a lengthy bedtime routine, but that sure does sound like a wonderful way to wind the kids down and end the day.
