We put in a very reasonable offer on the house friday. It was countered back and forth and on the final offer we decided that enough was enough. All was fine and dandy until the gentleman decided to take away our appliances and ask for a closing date of March. That was just not going to happen so Adam and I walked away after much deliberation.
We feel good about the decision and all hope is not lost. The couple that has the offer in has it on condition that they will sell their house by the end of Febuary. There is a strong possibility that that just won't happen. So...March 1st we will see and try again. Of course this time we will come in at a much lower offer and add a condition of sale on our house.
We feel very good about all this. Yes we are dissapointed as there are weeks of emotions invested but I slept like a baby last night.
I was reading my bible this morning when I read proverbs 24:27
'Develop your business first before building your house'
So perhaps we need to hear from the OPP before making such a jump. Whatever.
We are still going to have another real estate agent come in and appraise our home and we are slowly going to prepare this house for sale just in case. At least at this point there is no time crunch.
The funny thing about all of this is when we met with the banker to arrange for a pre-approval she GREW UP IN THE HOUSE WE WERE TRYING TO PURCHASE!!!
How funny is that! We thought maybe that was a sign that it was meant to be, but really all it did was give us an amazing rate and a great relationship with a banker. I'm not sure how she did it, but she 'arranged' some numbers to give us approval to carry two mortgages......My mother always said there are three people you need to become friends with in life. Your banker, your butcher and your pharmacist and now I know why :)
I am pretty emotionaly drained at this point but feel right about everything. We will see what the next few months are like but I am putting away the house plans for now. We are also losing HGTV so that will help me to focus on other things.

Alyson
