Letting go Little by Little

This picture speaks volumes about parenthood. How in the beginning we hold them in our arms. Then we stand beside them holding their little hands. Soon they are within arms reach and we let them step out on their own but are there to catch them if they fall. Before we know it we watch as they take off without us. We can do nothing but watch from a distance. They may fall but we are ready whenever they need us. We will hold out our hand, lift them up, or listen to them tell their story. Even if they think they have left us behind, we are watching them. Praying for them. Loving them. Waiting for them to turn around and realize that we are still there....and always will be.
