Smencils..They make life Good

Life is busy. Life is hectic. Life sucks sometimes. So it is nice to stop and smell the pencils in the middle of the day and realize that life is also fun. Smencils (cool smelly pencils)...they make work fun.

On that note I have found myself in the midst of busyness this week. Besides my usual stay home and take care of four kids and a house stuff, I have a few projects on the go. I am organizing the end of the year homeschooling graduation, a track meet, a running program, selling meat, preparing for a garage sale, preparing for Peyton's birthday, Lara's birthday, Soccer season AND my husband leaving for 3 weeks.

When I refer to being able to multi task I am referring more to chewing gum, picking socks off the floor while talking on the phone, wiping a nose and thinking about supper. Multi tasking several large projects is not really my thing. I like to do things well and trying to do EVERYTHING at the same time has left me with answering e-mails and looking stuff up on the Internet for 3 hours at night...and no that does not include my blog. I get a little boggled and I lose track of things when I have too much to decide and think about. So far I'm hanging in there but I don't know how long I'll last ;)

My hats off to ALL working moms who have important task oriented jobs, kids AND a social life. I don't know how you do it.

not well... that's how the "working mom" copes with it all...

Constantly feeling overwhelmed, not good enough, never able to focus fully on one thing, dysregulated, moody, on edge....Yeah, that about sums it up.

I had this moment last week when I realized I have birth certificates for all the children on my caseload, and still nothing for Seamus-we lost his awhile back; all the kids on my caseload have had their annual medicals promptly-Mahone has not been to the dr since he was 4 months.

Being self aware is my best tool and recognizing when it simply is all too much is helpful...so this week, I took time off of work and focused on home and cooking and playing with the kids-I needed it and they did to. I do my best with "balance"-whatever that it-but I so so so get it!! I just have lowered my expectations is all areas to be honest and really only focus on top priorties. Sometimes I feel guilty that I don't teach sunday school, have take out pizza for supper, that my paperwork for the office is never on time-but I simply CANNOT DO IT ALL WELL, 100% OF THE TIME. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE.

It is wonderful you are able to realize when it all seems a little out of control for you. That is great. I know you and I know you want to be the absolute best at everything, so that is hard..

Praying for you in this season of busyness for sure...

oh and as an aside-I often wonder how you cope with it all-animals, children, shift work husband, homeschooling, activities, and on and on.....Sometimes going to "work" is the easy part......
