I have a friend who works for a well known Company that refines chemicals to make things such as Teflon, Spandex, Nylon, Plastics...that sort of thing.
Wanna know something disturbing??
I was talking to him about how many steps it takes (from raw oil, to fiber,to material, to clothing), before we as consumers buy it at the store.
This is what he told me...
His company pretty much takes the raw materials such as Natural Gas, Oil, ect, Refines it and turns it into other chemicals....such as Nylon, Spandex, ect. After that, the chemicals are shipped to another factory where they are turned into giant spools of thread.
Instead of going to the second factory ...it can go to ANOTHER factory and be turned into.....get this....A chemical that is made into a lemon powder thingy that makes your drink taste lemony.
Scary to think of where your 'food' comes from no?
Seriously. That is why the closer to the land you can eat the better.
"Will you be having your soda pop with Refined oil this evening ma'am???"
