The First 'Mom Blog'

For Christmas I received among other amazing perfect and thoughtful presents, The anniversary addition of The For Better or For Worse Comic strip.
I have been reading this comic strip for as long as I can remember.
It was created in the late 70's and followed the 'Patterson' family through their antics and funny moments. I always related to Elizabeth Patterson as she was around my age.

As I thumb through my beloved cartoon I am laughing even more as I completely relate to the mom Elly!! She is me!! really.....did Lynn Johnston travel in time and record my everyday thoughts and happenings???

O.K I know that is not true, but one thought did come to mind....

I love to blog to share those funny moments that us stay at home moms and mothers in general, relate to. It is great to read other moms and say 'oh! how I know what you are talking about!'....

This is what this comic strip did for Lynn Johnston years before the internet. It gave her the outlet she needed to share and release her frustrations and feelings to others. AND..it allowed other families out there to feel as though they are not alone...that they are normal ;)

So nice to find the humor in everyday. To enjoy the chaos and mess, trials and tribulations. It is part of what life is about...enjoying the seemingly mundane in everyday and having a laugh. Why not.

So....Thanks Lynn Johnston for being one of the first 'mom bloggers'

Thanks for your answer about the homeschooling! I appreciate you taking the time to explain it to me :) Do you plan on getting a curriculum for your kids as they get older or anything?

I grew up w/ FBorFW too! My mom has the pregnancy/new parent books and they're hilarious. I'll share them if you haven't seen them (I don't think they've been reprinted for a long time). I still remember when Farley died. So sad :(

I have the 25th anniversary edition which covers from when Elizabeth is a baby until she graduates college.

Katy,

I will only do a 'curriculum' that suits each child. I'm sure I will pick and choose. Especially when we get into deeper subjects. I don't care how they learn...as long as they are always learning.
