CART WARS

I was Christmas shopping today BY MYSELF!! THAT in itself causes me to go really slow and look at EVERYTHING...O.K I got a little wrapped up in quiet land.

Anyway....So I was perusing the store minding my own business and I left my cart to walk down the Ile Sp..aile?(how DO I spell that?). I turned around, put my hands on my cart and started to leave the aisle (ah ha!) and a lady who worked there came up to me.

This is the conversation that followed....

Her " Oh here maam, I'll just move the cart for you"
Me " That's o.k, I'm fine thanks"
Her " no really, here, I'll just grab it for you and move to the end of the aisle"
Me " REALLY...I'm O.K THANKS"

Meanwhile I'm holding onto the cart and she has a hand on my cart and she is slowly directing me to the end of the aisle. AT this point I'm very irritated that she INSISTS ON HELPING ME. I am wondering why she is so INSISTANT in removing me from the aisle. Seriously lady...GET YOUR HANDS OFF MY CART!!!!

Her "Ma'am...this is my cart"

Me ( now realizing I've grabbed her cart and still had until the end of the aisle to get to mine, and feeling MORTIFIED of my stupidity.)

"Oh ha ha! Ummmm...y'a....he he..sorry about that. I thought it was my cart..."

Ahem.

Oh, see, if you'd had your kids along, there'd have been no mistaking who's cart was whose! But I get being totally lost and basking in the silent glow of MOMMY TIME!! It happens seldom enough that it's confusing and disorienting!

I find myself calling out, "Ladies, come on. Mommy's leaving now!" before I realize that they aren't just hiding in a rack of clothing -- I'm REALLY BY MYSELF! And the clerks are watching me very closely for any further signs of dementia.
