My Chickens hate each other.
I have one poor girl with a swollen foot. I have not been close enough to her to take a pic or really check it out but it looks terrible.
She hobbles along on it. So sad.
To make matters worse she is one of the hens with no feathers on her back. Apparantly she is low on the pecking order of things.
The no feather thing is due to a ummm....overly zealous rooster, and the other hens pecking at them...kind of like rubbing salt in the wound type thing.
I feel so bad for her. It is like watching myself in grade 8 all over again! Oh the social drama!
This morning I went into the coop to check on them and give them a tasty apple. My girl came running up for a taste and she was pecked on her bare back by the other nasty hens, and chased away!! HOW MEAN!! I could not take it.
Anyway, I returned later to check their water and found a little blood on one of the perches. I could not tell which hen it was but this is NOT GOOD!!!
Nasty little hens.
I am going to have to seperate them if they don't get along.
The 10 of them came from a larger group at a farm. My guess is the wrong ones were chosen. Rival gangs? oh who knows.

oh no!!! That is horrible!!! It would be awfully hard to seperate them all though, won't it? i hope you can figure something out!
Chicken gangs! Scary stuff! I'd feel awful for the bare-back one, too.
It's so sad. I remember seeing this happen when I was a kid and I was horrified. Chickens can be so cruel.
