GRAIN MILLS

I was reading a post by Kate at Small Scribbles about pancakes and noticed that SHE MAKES HER OWN FLOUR!!! The simple living, environmental, Amish Wanabe in me jumped out of my seat.

YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THAT I CAN BUY GOOD FOR ME FROM THE FARMER GRAINS AND GRIND IT MYSELF?!!?

I'm in heaven...o.k not really....but I'm really excited!!

She kindly e-mailed me the information about Grain Mills and how and where to purchase.

This is a Grain Mill. This one is called the COUNTRY LIVING GRAIN MILL. The title alone gives me goosebumps :)

The Country living mill can grind up to 7.5 cups of flour in 13 minutes. You can go all out ''country'', or opt for a fully automatic and electric one. I'm not sure which one appeals to me more.

Again...Any takers on buying me one ?? I'm in country bumkin heaven today. Especially since the tree outside my internet window is in full bloom and gorgeous!!
How could anyone NOT be in a great mood ?

Okay honey, you've officially lost your mind in the fresh country air. Grinding your own flour?! Do you have too much free time and need ideas for how to use it? Next you'll be churning your own butter (I'm sure that's crossed your mind) and weaving your own blankets on a loom (looms are big and expensive, don't bother googling them :)). What has the country done to our city girl?!

I love your passion for all things country Alyson! We would make great friends! I just know it.

That is a neat grinder, and I would be tempted too! But my question is, how would I keep the kids away from it?!

What a gorgeous view from your window!! What are the blooms on that tree?

I love it that you're 'all out country.' Don't stop. You continue to inspire me to 'simplify, simplify' as Thoreau recommended.

Grinding my own flour might be one step further than I'd go, although with an electric mill that would do the work for me, it wouldn't be a big deal, I guess. And you wouldn't be wondering about what chemicals all went into the flour.

Hubby and I are seriously entertaining the idea of raising rabbits for food. Apparently they taste a lot like chicken, but they're less work -- and as long as you've got one male, your supply will never run out!!

I don't think the general public is ready for people like us.

Yes I've lost my mind...but that happened a LONG time agao :)

Rabbits? o.k even I'm not ready for that. They are just too cute

I would think the flour Grinder would be the same as having a coffee grinder. Kids certainly don't go near that!!

My friend Sherri grinds her own flour because her boys have allergies. I think it's an awesome idea - and if I had your view out my window, I'd be even more inspired to do it!

Thanks for introducing yourself so I could meet you here. Your kids are so precious! Sounds like you've got a full plate for the next few months. I'll be praying for you.

The idea of a grain grinder gives me goose bumps too. I wouldn't have thought there were such things!

BTW - beautiful hydrangea.
