Dream Home

Adam and I just spent the day at camp IOWA visiting a good friend at an Athletes in Action retreat. It was nice to get out together and worship in such a nice environment. My legs feel sore today however thanks to Monica's ''walk''. Who knew the ''walk'' would take me up very steep hills. Serves me right for not doing any excersice lately.

Oddly enough one of the talks revolved around creating your dream home and what that means with respect to the Lord. The talk focused on building solid foundations and living under Jesus.

I found it interesting because the speaker was asking the University students to describe their dream homes, and of course they were pretty elaborate. One guy even had a slide into his bathtub :)

Obviously this was a relevant topic considering our recent purchase. Funny thing was my imediate response to his question. My dream home is not a paticular building or structure. My dream home and the dream we have for our family is a feeling.

I picture warmth, safety, laughter and conversations. I want people to feel free to stop by at any time knowing they will feel that comfort. I want our home to be based on love and God's values, and giving rather than receiving. I want our children to be able to run around laughing and creating, and the adults to feel the warmth of a fire while drinking in good tea and conversation.

Yes all that needs to be 'created'...in other words we need to build that fireplace I want :) But the FOCUS is not on the building for us. It is on those we love. Our friends and family. If we can accomplish that I will be a very joyous woman :)

So I ask you....what is YOUR DREAM HOME?? Is is a building? an ideal? or a feeling? Have you ever thought of it before? What kind of home environment do you want for your family and your life? Is it possible?
