Girls will be Girls

Last night I went to a baby shower for my friend. It was amusing on a few levels. I think it was all of us standing around watching Jo try on Anne's entire wardrobe for an upcoming wedding, and all of us giving our thumbs up or down. Or was it the conversation that inevitably changed to the size and perkiness ( or lack of) of our boobs.

Whatever it was I had a good time. It was a reminder of the good times I've had parusing through my girlfriends closets and borrowing clothes, and how we gals can talk about anything and not really be embarrased. Funny thing is, we were all reminded of those times and had a smile on our faces. It is a reminder that we women need each other and relish the girly times in our lives.

The funny part was that I was wearing a bra my babysitter lent me because my boobs have outgrown even my nursing bras, and the shoes I was wearing were given to me because she just never wears them anymore.

I guess I'm just glad that I have girlfriends in my life. some I've had for years, some are new, and one is a 17 year old who stops by to chat because I'm still 'cool' enough to hang out with.

When I was a teenager I only had a handful of girlfriends I could stand to be around, and really missed out on the sisterhood that comes with being able to share 'everything'. My husband can handle most things, but like me hearing about football, there is only so much boob talk he can take.

So this is a little shout out to all my girlfriends near and far. I really do cherish our friendships and the time we have to be girly together. You are all welcome to join me in my summer girly tea room in our new home at The Cedars. In fact, you MUST come over and share your stories and concerns, laughter and tears with me. After all, being a woman should be celebrated, and I need all the boob support I can get :)

The men can drink beer and watch football from the man room, and we can join them when we are good and ready.

Here's to fashion shows and boobs,
Alyson
